Optometrist & Owner, Optical ImageSasha is a mother of 3, Optometrist, owner of Optical Image, VP of Swift Current Downtown Business Community, & Chair of the Southwest Facility Foundation.
She developed a strong sense of community growing up in small town SK, and would like to extend her passion for health by bringing the community together through facilities that foster physical activity and inclusiveness.
The benefits of renewed and expanded facilities have the potential to maximize community health and elevate all levels of well-being among us! It's time to build!

Partner, Mercator FinancialTravis was born and raised in Swift Current and is happy to call this community home. Travis is a partner at Mercator Financial and is married to Shauna who have three busy children involved in all sorts of sports and activities. Reflecting on his childhood and the many wonderful memories he has playing sports in this community he cannot help be but grateful for the recreational facilities that were constructed before his time to which he was a beneficiary.
Travis is passionate about working to ensure that the next generation of Swift Current residents are afforded this same opportunity to live and work in an amazing community with state-of-the-art facilities that will ensure a young, healthy, and vibrant community where individuals of all ages are proud to call home.

Darcy Congdon

Director of Operations, Stark & Marsh CPADarcy and his wife Carla raised their two children, Tyson and Shae in Swift Current. Physical activity was and still is important to his family and feel they have been fortunate to use the various facilities that Swift Current has had to offer
Darcy has had an active involvement in the Swift Current community, both as a volunteer coach and with various organizations, such as Elmwood Golf Club, Swift Current Downton Business Association, Swift Current 57’s ball club. Dedication to youth sports and community building is one of the reasons being involved with the foundation is important to him.
Darcy is excited to be working towards expanding our communities’ recreational facilities for future generations, by connecting with local community and regional partners, businesses, and individuals to discuss these development projects. His experience and passion for community engagement will be an asset in initiating and supporting these legacy projects.

Caitlin Mann

Owner, Pebble CreativeMom of two busy boys, owner of Pebble Creative, boss of Hank’s Junk Removal, and Chair of Southwest Crisis Services. Caitlin values the strong community and personal character that sports, teams, and recreation build.
Born and raised in Swift Current, she is proud to raise her family here along with her husband, Carter who also grew up in Swift Current.
She’s passionate about lending her web and design skillset to the community and feels it’s important to stand behind community initiatives and projects that make Swift Current the best it can be.

Jim Jones
Board Member
Retired City of Swift Current CAOJim moved to Swift Current four years ago to work in Community Services for the City of Swift Current and now serves as the CEO of the City of Swift Current.
He knows the value that Recreation Facilities bring to the health and welfare of a community.
He looks forward to working with like-minded members of the community in supporting new builds in recreation and leisure pursuits.

Dallas Mohagen
Board Member
Professional Engineer, VerenDallas feels fortunate to have an engineering career in the oil and gas sector while raising his family in the great (windy) Southwest.
He believes strongly that physical and mental wellness are beneficial to everyone in the community. Sport and recreation increase both physical and mental wellness while providing an opportunity to learn many valuable life lessons.
Dallas enjoys volunteering as a coach for soccer, softball, hockey, and basketball. Coaching keeps him physically active and he has enjoyed meeting kind and dedicated families in the area. He is looking forward to new partnerships and opportunities to help raise funds for sporting facilities in Swift Current that will serve and benefit the entire South West for years to come.

Betty McDougall

Betty’s philosophy is that we all have the obligation to make our society a better place for future generations, and that each of us should take the opportunity to contribute our skills and talents in whatever most interests us.
Upon moving to Swift Current in 1979, Betty quickly became an involved volunteer. Over the years, she has participated in a variety of cultural, sports, and recreational organizations as a board member and volunteer. Betty’s foremost interest is in the area of development - - identifying (along with other individuals) the gaps in our community and working together to address them.
Betty is very excited to be a part of the group of individuals who will be working towards raising funds to support new recreation and leisure facilities in Swift Current, for the benefit of the citizens in the entire southwest.

Vim Parmar
Board Member
CEO, Wheatland Machine Shop & Beachcomber Hot TubsVim is the proud father of 3 kids (Priya, Milan & Ari, and the newest family member - granddaughter baby Asha) and partner in crime Anika Henderson. He was born in Mbale, Uganda, and moved to Canada at age 5.
Currently serving his second term on SCCC (Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce) as Vice Chair.
Vim’s hobbies include karate, wake surfing, camping & hiking. Swift Current has been a great place to get educated, raise kids and operate a business. Let’s make this awesome place we call Swift Current, an even greater home for future generations.

Alex Laird

Lawyer, Stringham LLPAlex Laird was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, and moved to Swift Current at the age of 5. He feels fortunate to have grown up in the Southwest and returned here after completing university.
Alex is an associate lawyer with Stringam LLP in their Swift Current office. He is committed to offering what services he can to further develop sports and recreation in Southwest Saskatchewan. As someone who continues to be active and use many of Swift Current’s recreational facilities, he is excited to be part of a great team of people who are focused on building the future of sports and recreation in Swift Current.

Ryan Plewis
City Council Liason
City CouncillorBorn and raised in Swift Current, Ryan has always called this community home with the exception of the seven years he spent attending the University of Saskatchewan where he earned degrees in Commerce and Law, both with Distinction.
Following graduation from Law school, Ryan was hired by local law firm, Anderson and Company, where he has practiced law since 2007. In 2013, Ryan left the full-time practice of law to join his family’s business, Standard Motors, that has been continuously operated since 1910. Along with his brother, Mark, he is the 4th generation of the Plewis Family to own and operate the dealership. In 2018, Ryan, as President of the Plewis Automotive Group, began the expansion of the business to its current state which operates 6 dealerships in Southwestern Saskatchewan and Medicine Hat, Alberta offering products and services from four separate manufacturers.
Since 2009, Ryan has also served Swift Current as a City Councillor, being re-elected in 2012, 2016, 2020 and most recently in 2024. Both through City Council as well as separately, he has served on numerous boards and committees including the Swift Current Broncos, the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, Southwest Municipal Government Group, the Police Advisory Committee and many others.
Ryan resides in Swift Current with his wife, Jennifer, and their three daughters, Mila, Annika and Piper all of whom are active in varying volunteer roles, activities and sports.
