SWIFT CURRENT, SK – We are excited to announce that another family farm, Carefoot Acres - including Floyd and Shauna, Mark and Jocelyn, Scott and Katie, and their families - have generously committed $100,000 over 10 years to the Southwest Facility Foundation.
This commitment takes the Foundation to just under $3.9 million dollars raised to support future recreation facility construction projects by the City of Swift Current.
“We are more than pleased to donate to the Southwest Facility Foundation and the future multi-use recreational facility. The City of Swift Current and South West Saskatchewan is the home and workplace of our family, team, and friends; we feel that it is important to give back to this vibrant community that we are lucky enough to be a part of.
While travelling throughout the province, we have witnessed the incredible impact that facilities like the one being supported by the SouthWest Facility Foundation can have on a community. We have seen that these types of facilities are highly used by community members for various sports and recreation activities, and they promote active living and can attract future residents to the area.
We appreciate the hard work that has gone into getting this foundation rolling, all of your efforts are recognized. We appreciate the members of our community who have donated already; it is incredible to see the level of support. We are hopeful more donations like this will challenge other businesses and farm families to step up as well.” – Scott Carefoot, Carefoot Acres
Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current. New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community. Recreation facilities are proven to provide significant boosts to tourism, economic activity, and future growth.
“ To see people recognizing the positive impact that sport and recreational facilities have on communities is exactly what we hope to achieve. To have families like the Carefoots step up with generous donations like this, makes this concept closer to reality every day. There is no doubt they see benefit for their families, their business and their community, and they are right here in the thick of it with support. Thank you Carefoot Acres!” – Sasha Godenir, SWFF Chair
Currently, the City of Swift Current has submitted an application for the Canadian Green & Inclusive Community Buildings grant from the Federal Government. The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their assistance and support of future projects.
